AWOL is a registered 501(c)3 that provides arts and technology education for at-risk youth. The organization’s main goal is to successfully develop youth in an environment that encourages respect, education, creativity and most of all non-violence. Using art and hip-hop as a vehicle for “social change” among youth populations has proven to be a successful research driven model for Savannah youth.

What began as a casual gathering of poets, musicians and emcees at Savannah State University in 1997 was incorporated as a non-profit group in September of 2004, a way for Founder/CVO Tony “Polo” Jordan, an emcee and probation officer, to compromise between his love of hip hop and his experiences helping troubled kids. Juxtaposing hip hop culture and positive youth development though various artistic mediums, the organization has become one of Savannah’s premier youth serving organizations. With a mission “to promote and provide self-awareness through the use of poetry, hip hop and life,” the organization hosts a number of events including: a weekly television show called the Chop Shop, a monthly open mic night, a conflict resolution workshop, an annual hip hop history play and digital arts education programs involving film and music production.

It all started with a box of jewelry that her grandmother allowed her to play with, while visiting. It was filled with shiny fish, colored opalescent pearls, enameled flowers, rhinestone brooches, feathered hat pins, and just about anything else that would catch the eyes of an eight year old.

She would adorn myself, dolls, pillows and pets.

Always interested in bringing a different dynamic to what was considered “normal”, I would wear a brooch on my uniform shirt to give it some style. Or use clip-on earrings to make my boring penny loafers different.

Eventually I dabbled in all types of mediums: sewing, crocheting, water colors, African art design, writing, scrap booking and then jewelry making.

I had finally found my niche’! I could take my love of beautifully colored stones, fabric or objects and make a wearable piece of art. Hence the name Sanaa which means work of art, and I like my jewelry to adorn the body as well as the soul.

I am a self taught wire wrapping, bead stringing, polymer clay molding, and organic lifestyle seeking jewelry artisan. Specializing in handcrafted items for the body and home from natural materials such as: wood, bone, (PMC) precious metal clay, pearls, copper and semi-precious gemstones.
My bead palette consist of an array of stones, shells, and now hand-dyed batik beads that I've just (delightfully) stumbled upon. Mostly anything from nature inspires me, and I have a real passion for blending unexpected colors and textures into eclectic pieces.

Born in Washington, DC @ Freedom Hospital now known as Howard University Hospital, Cheefah Dray displayed a love for music at a young age. DJing at parties before he was even old enough to attend them, at the tender age of 9. As his love for music grew so did the parties he was djing. He was the designated dj anytime the family wanted to throw a party, soon realizing that he wanted to pursue this further he began frequenting the studio. Then at the age of 19 he met Teddy Riley & Jean Money Griffin of Motown Records and began to really learn about producing. In 1990 he moved to Atlanta and was still djing and met up with Big Oomp of Big Oomp Records along with DJ Jelly, MC Assault & Voodoo and they showed him how to really DJ. Shortly after moving to Atlanta he was approached by a major label whom he chooses to let remain nameless as he was taught a very expensive valuable lesson in not knowing about contractual agreements and got dealt a vicious lesson at his expense. Needless to say his outlook on the music industry changed very quickly and he began to treat it like the drug game (trust no one) without a lawyer and a contract.

A while after that he was approached by Interscope Records but turned the deal down because he felt that it wasn’t right for him and decided to start his own company Beat Huztlerz Productionz, LLC along with his wife Mahoganee.

Bomani Armah is not a businessman, an entrepreneur or a hustler. He is not a fighter or a revolutionary. Bomani can, will, and does do all those things, but he IS an artist. That means, as his future baby mama Erykah Badu so eloquently put it, that he’s sensitive about his shit! Not sensitive, “Oh please like me, or I will kill myself”. More, “You’re gonna feel this ish! You’re gonna hate, love, despise, fear, be mesmerized, and/or inspired, but dammit you’re gonna feel it.”
There a precious few things that he IS, beyond father, teacher, black and human, so he’s trying to define what that means .There are certain things that apply to Bomani Armah, since he is an artist. Not in any particular order they include:
· He is as much of an artist as he is black. That means it is a class of people he was born into, that he will fight and die for, and that he will represent to his last breath.
· He will be caught more than twice a week talking to his self. Don’t worry, as long as he’s not answering himself (“Hey Bomani whatchu think”, “Well I don’t know Bomani, I’m kinda up in the air about it”) you don’t have to put him in a straight jacket.
· Although he is not a rapper, Bomani is an emcee, a M.C., and a free-styler. To many rappers (not all) for too long have claimed they are not artists, but businessmen. Bomani is not a businessman and doesn’t want to be confused with one.
· He will sometimes spend a whole blog referring to him self in third person
· Bomani is obsessed with sex. Not a nymphomaniac, or a whore, but captivated by the ultimate form of human expression. Bomani has never met an artist who wasn’t (rumor has it that dancers, then actors are the worst/best, however you wanna put it). It’s not about quantity, or variety, it’s about trying to understand a creative spirit that moves independent of you. Bomani was once told by an elder that when you are aroused it’s new souls trying to come through from the other side. Doesn’t get more artistic than that.
· Bomani is frustrated and dumbfounded by the crippling limits of the English language. He wishes he was a visual artist, cause there is no way words like “love” should mean as many things as it does. It’s part of the reason he has no problem with slang, ebonics, bad diction, bad grammar or just straight making up words. Ya undadig?
· Bomani thinks artistic competitions are over rated, and that battle rapping is played out. Real art cannot be a competition. Any art award boils down to a popularity contest, which has it’s own merit, but does not validate or denigrate art.
· Bomani, in his heart, values fame at least 5 times more than money. In his head though, he’s calculating his sons’ college education. In his spirit he could care less about any of it..
· Bomani will support violent, misogynistic, socially irrelevant and mind numbingly stupid expressions if he likes it artistically. You can try to have a logical debate about it, but he’s an artist and will answer all your inquiries as to why he likes said art until he is left with the final answer of “Because”.
· Bomani is not one of those artists who create for his self. There is a time for meaningless abstractness that is meant to confuse, intrigue, and make highbrow people feel good about understanding. (It’s called therapy).
· He does not need or encourage the use of intoxicants to inspire art (but if you got it, pass it)
· Bomani, unlike an unfortunate majority of his fellow artist, can give you a straight and honest answer if you ask him “So how would you describe your music?” or “Who would you say you sound like” instead of saying his music is genre-less, beyond description and absolutely unlike anything you’ve ever heard . Yes, he’s original, but all art is just a response to other art. Give credit where it’s due.
· Lives for extremes. That’s probably why he loves the city, is enraptured by the country, and can’t stand the mf’in suburbs.
· Can find beauty in the mundane. Anyone can get mushy about the sunset, make some moving art about shoelaces.
· Needs people. He can be that reclusive artists, but only after he’s indulged himself in enough human interaction to inspire him to go to the dungeon and create. Nothing defies scientific explanation like human relationships, which makes it perfect fodder for an artist.
· Bomani’s ego is directly attached to his vocabulary.
· Knows you cannot create until you first listen, see, smell and feel. He also knows that it is absolutely unnecessary to understand to create.
· Knows that his art will not change the world, will not cure hunger or create peace. He does know that it will be the sound track for the blood, sweat and tears that does.
Bomani’s favorite quote is probably “You are what you consistently do” by Harry Truman. That just means he needs to make a lot of art. Look out 2010.

I attended my first Indie Soul Mixer this year and I must say it was awesome and well worth it. The networking possibilities were phenomenal. Here's a little background on Mike & Dexter, the founders of the Indie Soul Mixer.

The Indie Soul Mixer Concept was formed by Mike Ashley (Bristol UK) and Dexter Myers (New York USA) who created this international collaboration project.

They perceived that artists, predominantly Independent, were going about their daily grind and doing their own thing, yet had little time for talking to others in the industry who would be able to help them, build their own brand, fill voids in their own business plans and just talk to the right connects.

Out of this was born the New York Indie Soul Mixer which in March 2010 held its 5th Annual and hugely successful event.

After 5 successful New York Mixers we have appointed local members to our team. Plans are now underway for Mixers in major cities around the world.

Damn Good Music Movement, also referred to as DGMM, was created by 4 New Jerseyans, Miss Meechie (Alethea), Tracey, Troy and Walter in 2007. As a way of getting the word out about Independent Artists, DGMM has decided to provide these artists the opportunity to meet and greet with the public and have their music exposed with greater visibility.

The goal of DGMM is to provide a venue to help promote Independent Artist by introducing them to a variety of people that otherwise may not have the opportunity to personnally meet them. Through DGMM, artists who are both working on their CD's and those whom have already released CD's will have the opportunity to network with other artists, music promoters, internet radio hosts, magazine publishers and the soon to be fans that will show up at their monthly events in the New Jersey area.

The Cavalier Social Lounge in Roselle, NJ is where DGMM has chosen to host their events. It was very important to the members of DGMM to find a venue that would give a very cozy and relaxed environment for both the patrons and the artists.

With the support of our friends Pam and Detrell, the ladies of ONUTSS and our "Uncle", George Littlejohn, of Purpose Music Group, we look forward to a very successful venture and are pleased to bring some Damn Good Music to the New Jersey area.

239 Winner's Circle

It's hard not to be stunned by the power of The 239 Winner's Circle.

The four stunning women who make up the group burst with enough personality and passion to fill up the Edison Restaurant where they meet to plan charitable events.

Even their names make you stop and pay attention. Katrina Shanks aka Queen Unique, Rachelle Chevrin aka Lady Chelle, Nikijha Stephens-Lynch aka First Lady Niki and Princess Johnson won't let you forget them.

"I believe everyone is born a winner," said Katrina, or Queen Unique. "We have found our winning qualities. You just have to find out what your winning qualities are and use them."

This group of entertainers incorporated their own charitable organization last month and are using their talents for good.

"We had an idea of bringing people together to help one another out," said Nikijha Stephens-Lynch, 32, a radio personality on The Freak Show weekday mornings at 105.5. "When you surround yourself with people of like minds, good things begin to happen."

The four Fort Myers friends have already held a bowling benefit, school supply drive, car wash, basketball and golf tournament to benefit a variety of local agencies.

Katrina Shanks, 31, a poet and host of a motivational Internet radio show called queenspeaksradio.com - which focuses on improving issues for African-Americans - wants to inspire people to help others.

"We needed to put unity back into the community," she said. "We wanted to use our entertainment skills to pull people together."

Each member has a personal issue they care about, including domestic violence and underprivileged children.

Princess Johnson, 28, a singer, songwriter and dancer, is passionate about the arts.

"Children have to have an outlet to express themselves through art, especially when they're having problems at home," she said. "I had that outlet and it is near and dear to me."

Rachelle Chevrin, 27, was born in Haiti and created Ladychelle.com, an entertainment platform for local artists. She enjoys being part of this energetic group.

"We are already making a difference," she said.

For now, while they get to know the charitable ropes, they plan to limit the group to four. But in the future, they want to expand and inspire groups to form beyond Fort Myers.

The 239 Winner's Circle has many events planned for the rest of the year, including volunteering at The United Way Day of Caring for Big Brothers Big Sisters at Lakes Park on Aug. 28 and a blood drive on Sept. 4.

Chelsey Alyse Green

is certainly “environmentally sound” when it comes to the popular music scene of today.

A native of Houston, Texas, Green was born into a family of jazz and funk musicians and started her performance career as a violinist at age 5. Though she was inundated with music of all genres, she focused on classical music studying both privately and publicly at performing arts schools for elementary and middle school in the Houston Public school system. Green, in an effort to diversify her schooling, attended a traditional high school and was active in various academic and performance-based activities in other fields. The call to be a musician, however, was ever-present and saw Green returning to her first love, the violin.

Green’s philosophy--which developed as a classical violist on scholarship at The University of Texas at Austin--began to take shape while a summer intern at a Top 40 radio station in her hometown. As an intern, Green would dream of being on stage with the same artists and emcees she hustled coffee for at the station. Re-inspired by the famous hits of the past, she began to see a way of using acoustic string performances to enhance live, popular music, just as it did in the days of The Temptations, The Supremes and Donny Hathaway. Additionally, by fusing classical music with popular songs in various genres--including R&B, pop, soul, funk, Latin, alternative, hip hop, go-go, inspirational and gospel--Green believed her various string arrangements, live/studio performances and other collaborations could reach everyone and allow for a new appreciation of the capabilities of the instrument as it relates to their everyday listening.

After moving to Baltimore to attend graduate school at The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, Green soon saw the amazing talent in the city and knew immediately that her dream could start its realization. Currently a doctoral student at the University of Maryland, Green and her bandThe Green Project have definitely been shaking things up in Maryland and DC. After their debut in October of 2009 at Baltimore’s famed The Velvet Rope, they have been performing extensively in and around the DC area. The Green Project has also begun a studio project set for release in 2010.

Classically soloing in New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall at age 16, Green has also been honored to perform in many popular venues around the world, with several symphonies and at many churches and congregations across the nation, including two solo performances at The National Missionary Baptist Convention. The Green Project has recently performed at The Mansion at Strathmore as part of the Friday Night Eclectic series, The U.S. Capitol, The 2010 Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, and the 2010 DMV Awards where they won Best Alternative Artist.

This past fall, she has also had the privilege of being interviewed on local radio stations including Trish Hennessey’s “91 One Local” on WHFC 91.1 Baltimore, “The Flow” with K-Raq on www.im4radiodc.com in Largo, Maryland, and on "Metro Connection" with Andrew Hiller on WAMU 88.5, public radio-Washington, DC.

Why "The Green Violinist?” Besides the obvious reasons, Green’s name is a personal patent that certifies her performing as a true representative of who she is and of her life’s passion. Furthermore, by returning to the violin after establishing herself as a professional symphonic violist, Green is beginning to live her dream, which is somewhat new to her. The word “green” also reveals another strong interest in preserving our environment. In fact, Green is very passionate about recycling, being energy efficient as much as possible, and more specifically, saving the forests of Pernambuco trees in Brazil for the preservation of fine bow making.

A BOOGIE-DOWN NIGHT AT THE STRATHMORE

With this summer’s record-breaking blazing heat, it’s hard to imagine that Fall is but a few months away. But in the crisp October weather, things will heat back up again. On October 30th, The two-thousand seating Music Center at Strathmore in Rockville, MD will be rockin’ with the likes of Christylez Bacon and legendary Chuck Brown.

It will be a night of firsts as Christylez and the Go-Go legend himself share one spotlight for the first time. This will also be the first time in Strathmore history that the Orchestra Tier rows of seating space will be removed to open up space for patrons to shake a tail feather or two; wallflowers beware.

Chuck Brown has been shaking down stages and reppin’ DC’s native music for decades, but Christylez is excited to share a few treats of his own; unique arrangements using Go-Go roots and elements, along with an updated band including guitar, human beat box and two horn players. They’ll be doing what they do best in this multi-generational, old-school meets new, night of music and grooving.

DENISE STOKES is a Motivational Speaker and AIDS Activist. By building upon her life experience (which includes living with HIV for 25 years) she shares her story in venues around the world. As a result of advocating at a very young age, Denise helped to put a face on heterosexual HIV infection in the 80’s. Now 38 years old, she presents to many professional and educational groups across the country. Whether addressing the NFL, Morehouse School of Medicine or speaking on the main stage at Prince’s Paisley Park, Denise keeps her message fresh and relevant to the audience she is addressing.
Ms. Stokes served as an advisor to President Clinton as a member of the HIV/AIDS Advisory Council from 1995 to 2000 and remains politically active. She has spoken at two Democratic National Conventions including the 2004 Democratic National Convention on behalf of John Kerry. She is an active member of several boards of directors for community-based groups and the spokesperson for BET’s Rap-It-Up Campaign.
Denise is an emerging writer with work contributed to James Adler’s Memento Mori – An AIDS Requiem, and is completing a powerful autobiography. She also recently released an exciting spoken word project entitled “Elevation”.
Although her career is one embellished by major achievements and constant media appearances, Denise keeps her focus and stays grounded. She actively mentors other HIV peers and makes volunteer commitments on a regular basis.
With an endless amount of enthusiasm, Denise continues to eloquently speak for the rights of people disenfranchised by HIV, addiction, homophobia and racism – as well as carry a passionate message of prevention and awareness to the world.

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to complain about service I recently received from Almaz Restaurant and Lounge at 1212 U street NW, WDC. The customer service representative/Owner’s name is Almaz Demissie aka NuNu.
Toney Smith and I met with Almaz Demissie at Almaz Restaurant and Lounge on June 24, 2010 to discuss holding my (Enoch) video release party, along with a charity event called “The Pro-Seeds Project” where awareness and money would be raised to benefit prostate cancer. This event was scheduled for August 25, 2010. Please keep in mind that I have done many other events here before, and one night I even checked ID’s because nobody else was there to do it. So the history between the two parties has been business and personal. After we agreed on the upstairs space and bar guarantee ($300) for the August 25, 2010 event then, NuNu gave us a week before the event to turn in the monies
owed, a practice she has always done with us.

Promotion means to bring attention to such an epic event as outlined below.

June 26, 2010: Rally artists and sponsors via emails, text messages, and telephone calls.

June 29, 2010: Confirm seven artists, one host, and seven sponsors.

July 1, 2010: Press release goes out to over/nearly 1200 people via email including local newspapers, magazines and businesses within and outside of the Washington DC area.

July 17, 2010: An official flyer is created that is posted on MySpace, Twitter, newsletters, emails, Eventbrite and Facebook, and on which Almaz Demeissie was tagged.

On August 3, 2010, after a month of promotion, I get a text message from Toney Smith stating, and I quote, “NuNu pulled your event for a higher bid.” I was quite frustrated and began to read other text messages that Toney Smith was sending that read, “I asked Nunu if that person had the downstairs or upstairs.” Her reply was, “I don’t want to have two parties here, and I didn’t even know you guys was doing a charity event here.”

In conclusion, my entire network and I and a growing list of others, have vowed never to spend money at Almaz Restaurant and Lounge ever again. The Community has spoken about how they wish to proceed with the process to boycott this venue, among other things. I have received tons of hits on Facebook about how people aren’t even going to spend money there any longer due to the fact of being treated like this.

About "Listen Up!" The young woman's voice in Hip-Hop

This summer, we will create original hip-hop theatre driven by the interests of the young women and girls in the program. Our work will take place inside a supportive and nurturing environment that challenges them to become self-actualized. Participants will have the opportunity and produce all aspects of their own show while learning about the elements of hip-hop and West African drumming.

Harriet’s Girls is reaching back and serving others! In 2006, 2007, and 2008, we fed the homeless in McPherson Square on Thanksgiving morning in Washington, DC and participated in Gorgeous Prince George’s Day. In 2007 and 2008, we fed the homeless for the Prince George’s County “Warm Nights” program, we completed sewing, decoupage, dance, quilting, scrapbooking and ceramic enrichment programs, visited the Holocaust and Native American museums, studied Apartheid and the genocide that occurred in Rwanda, participated walks for “Relay for Life”, “National Make a Difference Day”, “Maryland Emancipation Day”, "Stomp Out Sickle Cell", and "End Poverty", hosted an “Empty Bowls” fundraiser, had successful summers working hard on mission trips in the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica, and adopted 20 families from four schools in Prince George’s County for this Christmas.

We accomplished our goals for the 2008 mission trip in Negril and Montego Bay, Jamaica! We were an integral part of delivering life changing blessings to a large number of Jamaican citizens. We provided 850 pounds of clothing and shoes, 100 pounds of books, 100 pounds of toys, 100 pounds of rice, 30 gallons of oil, and 100 pounds of toiletry items. We also donated fruit trees, clothing, shoes, toiletries, and money to the athletic department at Green Island High School. We visited and made contributions to Blossom Garden Orphanage, Miss Enid, The Miller Family, and Kendal Holy Temple Church. ONE LOVE!

We accomplished our goals for the 2009 mission trip in Trinidad! The girls had an awesome experience, and are thankful for the support of the Central Bank of Trinidad & Tobago. We provided more than 1,800 pounds of clothing and shoes, Bibles, books, school supplies, toys, sporting goods, and toiletry items. We made donations to Southern Academy, St. Mary's Children's Home, more than 75 orpahans at our field day event, and sponsored five families at Mt. Elvin Baptist Church.

From down-home country “snagging” hooks (soultry as she calls it) to hit-em-hard in the dome lyrics, this femcee sensation is capturing the hearts and minds of many. Her debut EP album release, Personal Messenger, hit the ground running in 2004 and took by storm the attention of the Metropolitan area. Her hit single, Serenity, combined the funky Chop-E Chop-E sound with Controversy’s fiery lyrical flare. Princess likens herself to the style of Lauryn Hill mixed with a splash of Queen Latifah and the boldness of Betty Wright. That powerhouse combination is a sure win on the music scene of today. POC is a refreshing new wave to the next the next level of hip-hop, she affectionately calls soul-hop!

Although known to the world as Princess of Controversy, outside the stage she is simply Melissa Princess Best-Nichols or Missy (what her momma calls her). This native-born Washingtonian mixed with “North Cackalacki” (NC) roots has been gracing stages since the tender age of five. While on the road to becoming a world-famous actress, Princess discovered her love for music and reaching people was even greater than she had imagined. So she took the passion from her poetry and theater skills up a notch and emerged onto the music scene. Her subject matter can range anywhere from being hypnotized by a person or life in general (Hypnotic, duet with I.Q. from Tha Remainz) to City Eyes, a close-up look at how living in the city all your life gives you a certain mentality. When Princess isn’t on stage flowing, she is at schools teaching youth about music, theater and social justice issues. The ARTIVIST has a deep passion for making hip-hop that people will respect, listen AND party to (all three are required for a POC song). “That’s a really hard task that often times seems almost impossible to do,” says Best-Nichols. “The problem that artivists like myself face, is that in the midst of trying to bring positive vibes from music, people (as well as ourselves) often forget those same messengers are hue-man and prone to the same trials as everyone else. Often times the general public would much rather hear about someone’s failures and miseries rather than their triumphs and happiness. That’s backwards to me!”

Despite muddy waters, this Lioness (reps her Leo born sign August 9) is determined to roar! Now underway with her second album, Princess says it’s time for her to elevate the game and kick in more doorways for female emcees. She says we can expect some unexpected things with this next album, and also more personal testimony. “I realized on the last album, that while I was great speaking about those issues that I saw in the community that I wanted to help change, but I didn’t speak a lot about the things going on in my own life. At least not totally. You have to be willing to shed yourself for people to connect with you, your flaws, insecurities, all your ish!” With a name like Controversy, the new album, name TBD, is bound to get into some real ISH!!!! POC says this album is more than just the music, it’s about the life or lives in the music. POC says that “after Lauryn Hill, the world of real femcees silently went underground.” Will Princess of Controversy be the Harriet to bring them out to freedom? The answer is looking very positive!

DJ Earth 1ne is one of DC Hip Hop’s best kept secrets.

She is a native Washingtonian, a living example of a true diamond in the rough. Having come from a family of musicians, she was inspired by the talents that surrounded her. She grew up hearing the constant licks of the bass guitar, the constant playing of piano, and constant bursts of song. It wasn’t long before she chose deejaying as her personal form of musical expression.

DJ Earth 1ne started off as an employee at MetaTracks Studios, and by 2001, devoted her life to the decks, perfecting her turntable skills and adding that special touch. While she trained, she became heavily involved in the DC Hip Hop scene. That same year, she was head coordinator for an event called “When Worlds Collide,” a platform for underground emcees, b-boys and b-girls to display their personal stories through Hip Hop. The event was part of Art-O-Matic, a bi-yearly event held in Washington, D.C. that celebrated the community and its various forms of expression through art, music, theater, poetry, dance, and films. She then jumped into the open-mic scene. She held a weekly open-mic night at Harambe Café. She then hosted a night of underground Hip Hop performances that welcomed all emcees, deejays, producers, b-boys and b-girls. It was called Tru Skool, now known as one of the most authentic Hip Hop open-mics in the DC area, that often serves as the starting point for up-and-coming Hip Hop artists. In the summer of 2008 she provided the sounds for Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival she also held it down at Andalu Night Club every other Thursday night with “Real Hip Hop Thursdays” and each month she rocks an event called “Cake and Kisses” in Washington, DC.

Since the start of her career, DJ Earth 1ne has fluxed from being both Promoter and Deejay, and has received much respect in the DC Hip Hop community for being both. While she continues to promote for major urban companies, her claim to fame is her skill on the 1’s and 2’s. She is the first female Deejay to be inducted by KRS-ONE into the Temple of Hip Hop. She managed and promoted for the group Culture Cypha, now disbanded. Culture Cypha’s first album “Aztect Planet” quickly became a DC favorite, and upon popular demand, a second album was released in 2004 called “Translation.” And currently, she is the only female Deejay in DC for an artist named Enoch the 7th Prophet, member of the former Culture Cypha. Since 2000, the two have worked together, dedicating their artistry to the ministry of Hip Hop, and have produced anthems that promote awareness, love, and social responsibility.

DJ Earth 1ne has worked with numerous artists, including DJ Jazzy Jeff, KRS-ONE, DJ Jealousy, King Britt, Immortal Technique, Lone Catalysts, Akir, Jeru, Enoch the 7th Prophet, Culture Cypha, Just Ice, Busy Bee, and Wise Intelligent. She has performed in Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Chicago, North Carolina, and Georgia.

In the mid- 80's, at the age of sixteen, Enoch began writing rhymes. As a young member of the now-disbanded group, Total Kaos, Enoch took to the stage as Deejay Heath Cliff. During this formative period, Enoch started to develop his own unique rhyming style and learned how to deliver charged-anthems in school hallways, bathrooms, and even expanded to the public realm by performing on sidewalks during lunch breaks or beat boxin' in a emcee cipher. After a year of rhyming with Total Kaos, Enoch, then also known as Boogie, decided to explore Hip-Hop even further. In late 1992, Enoch joined emcee Kidd and together formed the group, Datzit. After a brief stint in the hip-hop world, Datzit disbanded in 1995. Enoch then took his rhymes to South Carolina, Voorhees College. Upon Enoch's 2000 graduation, he returned to His home—DC, and with the help of best friend now DeeJay EARTH 1NE, started to work with fellow starving artist VERSE-ALL. The two formed CULTURE CYPHA within a year later but then disbanded in 2005.

Enoch is more than your average emcee. Enoch is the only MALE EMCEE in the DC/MD/VA area with a FEMALE DEEJAY which is rare in the entertainment business. Enoch and DJ Earth 1NE put their best foot forward in a righteous effort to kill the negativity, misogyny and violence against women in HipHop. Lecturer, Mentor, Musician, Father, Host, Brother and emcee, Enoch the 7th Prophet offers a deviation from today's mainstream rap artists. Instead of spitting anthems for the rich, famous, pimped-out and culturally inept, he remains committed to uplifting and advocating for the underserved. Laying down lyrics that are filled with references to his Rastafarian religion, black pride, political revolutionaries and the plights of oppressed people internationally, 7th Prophet likes to make the distinction between being a rapper and embodying hip hop.

Even though Enoch is signed to Keep It Forward Records and most of the production is in-house by El-Ra iz Fonk, a producer based in Atlanta Georgia, he is currently stepping outside the box. He is working with a few Washington, DC producers on some side projects. On the emcee side, he has worked with Boston’s Godfather, ED O.G. He has also worked with the following artists: DenD Productions, Dawn Dineen, The Package, Freedom Black, Krs-One, Jeru the Damaja, King Cee, Long Axe, Begga Ooh, Busy Bee, Adon Entertainment, and Akir. Enoch is the 80's era of hiphop but in millieumn age, he IS the new golden era. He is comparable to KRS-One because he brings that intense stage show, and Anthony Hamilton because he still possesses that hungry to become better each time he writes. Opening up for artists such as EDOG and Master Ace, Enoch has been said to perform like the "Holy Spirit" is on him. Others say he is so intense with his stage performance that it looks like he is really enjoying himself; some even think he has too much energy.
